Miles de personas convierten a Zamora en un mar verde durante la XV Carrera Mucho x Vivir 2023.

ZAMORA, 22 Oct. - Iberdrola and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) have joined forces this Sunday in the XV Carrera Mucho x Vivir 2023 Zamora Against Cancer, which has dyed the streets of the city center green by bringing together more than 8,000 participants.

The funds raised through this collaboration, which is part of the agreement between both entities, will be used to work on research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, as well as on social awareness aimed at fighting the disease.

In addition, Iberdrola has recalled at this event one of the "most innovative initiatives developed under this agreement" such as the campaign Together against cancer, through which the company offers its customers the possibility of collaborating with the association, committing to double the amount they donate monthly through their electricity or gas bill.

Iberdrola and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) maintain a historic relationship that was consolidated in 2015 with the signing of a collaboration agreement focused on cancer research. The company's continued commitment and that of its customers has made Iberdrola the main private collaborator of the AECC.

Iberdrola's commitment to Zamora is part of the company's deep connection with this land, where it was born more than 120 years ago and from where it has been promoting the energy transition towards renewable and competitive energies that promote the development of a sustainable and responsible society with the environmental and socio-economic environment.

Looking to the future, Iberdrola will continue to make a significant investment effort in this land, in order to continue offering its almost 130,000 customers in Zamora an increasingly better quality of service.

To do this, the company plans to invest 36 million euros in electrical networks in the province over the next four years, another 40 million will be allocated to the expansion of wind farms, 4.7 million to hydroelectric infrastructures over the last two years, and a recurring fiscal contribution of more than 13 million euros annually from provincial taxes.

The company maintains 17 installations in the Zamora province with an installed capacity of 976 MW, four wind infrastructures and 13 hydroelectric plants, clean and flexible energy that creates employment and invests in the training of professionals in a booming sector that offers work to young people.

Additionally, in collaboration with the Rei Afonso Henriques Foundation, they educate young people from Zamora schools about the risks of climate change. Iberdrola will reforest the Zamora villages of Muelas del Pan and San Cebrián de Castro, which have been the winners of the Bosque busca pueblo initiative launched by the company in Castilla y León.

Also, recently, the company announced in the capital of Zamora that it will invest in a pioneering large-scale aluminum recycling project by the company LatemAluminium, which will create 800 jobs, 300 of them direct, before 2026 in the provinces of León and Zamora.
